Default '84 Big Red Carb Problems

My 84 big red has been sitting for about a year. I have drained the gas and have taken the carb apart and let it soak in gas. I removed the jets and cleaned them. I have put it back together and it idles very high. I replaced it with a carb off a 84 200 trx and it still does the same thing. Adjusting the air/fuel screw does nothing. Any suggestions?

Vacumn leak? Missing o ring or rubber intake ripped?
Slide being held open?
To hit high revs, there has to be air to support it.

Or it could be your slow jet is still clogged and your idle has to be turned so high that it's actually running on the main circuit at idle. The hole in it is very small and prone to clogging or partially clogging. It could be the carb you put on from the other machine has the same problem. If you have any doubts, just try a new one. They're not that expensive.

sounds like the slide is in backwards, that would hold it to about 1/2 throttle. Air leaks normaly make them die out
