Default Wheel spacing

I have a honda 2003 300 ex. I have enough threads to move each wheel out 1/4 inch. Gives 1/2 inch increase in width. It is simple to do and makes it look better inregards to stance. Does this alter the strength at all or cause any problems I should be aware of...I ride Mtns. only...Barley any jumping...I'm new to this so any response would be appreciated since I see some negative views on wheel spacers that run from 1.5 inches plus, ie durablue....

I have 3" wheel spacer nuts on the rear of my stock axle 400ex and offset rims on the front. I hit 50 foot jumps (8 feet heighth) with flat landings on a regular basis without any ill effects. I would definitely widen up your 300ex front and back.

Do you think that 1 inch screw in studs or the 1.5 inch durablue spacers are the best. I gather that the 1/2 inches I'm propossing will not do much and if I did do it until I purchase the other spacers, there is no safety issue???

If you are running stock rims, I would suggest that you just go all out and get a set of wheel spacers. I don't care for Durablue at all. I like the aluminum ones from G-Force, which you can get from Rocky Mountain (30mm front/40mm rear). And loose those balooney stock tires, if you are still running them!

The solution I use is ITP rims with a greater offset, and wider Holeshot tires. Makes the bike +3" in back and +2" in front. Nice increase in stability, but still not so wide that it can't be trail ridden.

I have gone to a 20 inch rear tire rather than the ballon 22 inch tires. I will take your advice on the spacers as well...........I get the feeling that the screw on studs are not the way to go........the rear tires are Dunlop KT 165 20x10x9 with stock front tires...I think that is a fair compromise for a smaller size and decent for Mtn. riding.....While I order the spacers, I'm going to try my homemade spacing to see what it does inregards to overall handling.....I will most likley enjoy the ride it produces and desire for the wider kit........
