Default 2004 300EX Reverse problem???

Hi,

Just got this quad about 2 months ago and its been a blast to ride around. Only thing is, I can't get it to go into reverse! I pull the clutch lever in and can't seem to get the reverse lever to come up. The manual says to push the little red button on the clutch lever, but does that really do anything? I looked at it, and it seems that it just prevents the clutch lever from being fully released, if you let the lever go. I don't want to break the reverse lever, so any advice would be appreciated. Again, I'm new to this so any advice would be great! Thanks!

What gear do you have the fourwheeler in when u try to put it in reverse? Yes the cables does allow the reverse lever to be activated.

The RED button pulls a cable. That cable goes to an arm on the right side of the bottom end. It is behind the brake pedal, about an inch long. The cable should pull that arm back toward the foot peg.

If it doesn't pull it back, try twisting it with pliers. If that does work, you can wire tie the arm back. I saw a 250x that was rigged like that, it worked fine. It cut out the one step of pushing in the button

It's in neutral when I shift into reverse. I never noticed the red button being connected to a cable. I'll take a closer look this weekend when I get back home.

But overall, it doesn't take much force to shift into reverse, correct??

A 2 finger tug should be plenty. If you have a crane hooked to it, there is something wrong.
