The ignition wire is in your headlight.. Its just a pull off and its like a 3 min job. Tires id go with Razrs or dirtdevils.

As for tires, ITP Holeshot XC's, on ITP T9 rims. It will make the bike several inches wider, for some nice added stability. Way nicer than those stock balooners!

It has been a long time since I owned a 300, so I am trying to remember. The key is on the handlebar cover, right??? I think I relocated the key by just drilled a 1" hole down on the side somewhere. The bike looked a little unfinished without the cover, so I bought a cover for a 250X (fits behind the light, and covers the handlebar mount), and it filled in the open spot behind the lights. Looks lots better. You might be out of luck if your bike is yellow though (the old 250X was red).

There are 2 round circles in the middle of your cover, pry them out with a small screwdriver, this will give you access to the mounting screws.

If you want you can relocate your key switch to your headlight case. I relocated the reverse light behind the neutral light, then drilled a 1" hole where the reverse light was. There is not enough room in the middle of the headlight cover for the key switch, it has to be to one side or the other.

Or you can relocate it down on the side plastic below the handlebars. again drill a 1" hole, the switch will pop right in.

Now that you have bare handle bars, put on a crossbar pad like this. they fasten on with velcro around the bars. Good safty item and look good.

i told you how it comes out. Take your headlight cover off and unsnap the ignition wire off of the other wire. then take the handlebar cover off and re snap it inside the headlight.
