Rubicon top speed on a GPS?
#1
Just wondering what you guys with Rubicons are getting as far as top speed. Speedometer indicated or GPS. Dirtwheels said it went 55mph., but they also said a 500 scrambler did 68 so who can you trust? I'm talking about level ground here, not downhill.

Don't have a GPS speed for a Rubicon but have a reading from a county sheriffs radar gun. One of our members brother is a county sheriff who had to work over the labor day weekend. So while on "patrol" he dropped by our riding place & "shot" quads for a few minutes with his radar gun.
The Rubicon was at 54 mph & the owner said there was still some top end left in it. This guy also weighs around 245 pounds. The owner of the Ruby verified that his speedo said 54.
It appears the digital speedo's in Honda are accurate.
A sportsman 500 had a speed of 58 mph in the same 'test' run.

Here is a little clarification on my first email.
The Rubicon was being riden by a big guy who says he weighs 245, more like 260-270. The Rubicon also had Warn 2500 winch, 5 gallon gas can (full of gas), chain saw, an axe, & a metal container full of tools on back, along with mud runner tires.
The sportsman had nothing on the racks & the rider weighed probably 170-180.
The Ruby had 250-275 pounds more on it than the sportsman.
