Default Honda Rancher ride

I'm looking into buying a new Rancher 350. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea about the ride comfort of this ATV. I'm going to mainly use it around the farm checking cattle and stuff and I want something that rides smoothly through rough terrain. Would the Rancher be good for this or should I move up to something with IRS like a Sportsman or Kodiak? Also, are these things pretty doggy or do they get around allright. I don't need a whole lot of power, but I don't want something slow either.

It isn't a bad ride for a utility. Not my choice for bashing big desert whoops, but out in a farm field how fast are you going to go. I do fast trail riding in rugged terrain with no complaints.

I have a Rancher AT. It rode pretty decently stock. I installed a Perfex kit like LittleBill mentioned and it made a world of difference. It's very soft and smooth now. It also rasied the quad about 1.5 inches.

My only concern is that the suspension may be too soft now to pack a lot on the quad. I haven't loaded it down with it being winter and all.

Where can I lookup the perflex on the net? Is it available for the 300 trx 4x4?

I have found the Perfex kit on the 'net, but it's difficult to find and there isn't much info. And I can't find it now. If you can read french goto www.perfexcanada.com (I can't).

My Honda dealer just happened to have one in stock so I bought it. But I know it can be ordered online somewhere.

I don't know about the 300, but I would think they have one. It went on very easily except for two things. I had to drill a hole in the swing arm cross member and my Dewalt drill was a little too big to get in there. And I had to grind a casting tab off the rear end that was in the way of a nut. Otherwise, it was extremely simple.

If I can find more info I'll post it here.

The Rancher rides decent and is stable, goes about 50mph, 54mph has been the highest I have seen before the rev limiter kicked in. I have ridden a Polaris 400 and have to admit that the Polaris rides very smooth compared to the Rancher. The rancher power is good, I have pulled rocks out of the field that I could not lift and use it to spray mostly. The Rancher alternator will keep up with the electric sprayer pump and not run the battery down. Mine is a 2 wheel drive, manual shift and have not had one thing go wrong with it. If there was one thing I would want changed it would be a little softer ride but then again it is so much advanced over the previous entry level quads I have had there is no comparison.
