BLVIPER,
I dont NEED your approval to be accepted in the ATV world, and I could give a rats behind what you think of me.

If your offended, perhaps reading ANN LANDERs in your local newspaper may give you a 'calming'effect..

I really dont mean to irritate anyone, but you see,I dont push around real easy, and some folks have it coming..

I've irritated far more important folks than there is in here..Know WHY?

Because I've never been afraid to say what needed to be said, and it dont matter to WHO either..I once pissed off an ENTIRE DNR staff at a local ORV board meeting..KNOW WHY?

Because I said what only others ''talked about'' for years.

And in doing so,prompted changes in our ATV Safety programs for the benifit of our youth and a few older riders..

So,
if your pissed off at me---maybe its time to take the towel off your mirror and take a GOOD look at YOURSELF?

Don't even try that tough guy act around me buddy. You may or may not speak your mind in the real world. But that sure as hel is not what you have done in here. You cried and moaned childish antics, and now your trying to act like that never happened and be mature. As far as I can see, your biggest fault is that you ignore things you don't want to deal with. I believe in majority rules and usually the majority is right. And it looks like the majority of the members here disagree with you and recognize you avoid pressure.

Specta,
ah--its so nice to speak to someone with a sense of intelligence..[Not meant sarcatically]

OK,
I misunderstood your statement to mean that unlocked ATVs can go 100% of the places that a locked ATV can..

When someone tells me that the vast majority of the ATVs without locking diffs will take their owners 100% of the places they EVER go,I perceived it as being able to go anywhere a locked ATV could go,if im wrong with my assumption, than what does 100% of the places mean?

One thing we certainly agree on is that lockers are NOT needed for the most part of Off Roading..Winches are rarely needed too,but its sure nice knowing its there IF you need it.

BLVIPER,
You sir,are correct for once..I do try and ignore some folks, especailly the ones with a low IQ..

The MAJORITY you speak of in here consist mostly of you and your buddie MOTO,both of which lack any credable amount of IQ..

You both could count your IQs with one hand and still have some fingers left to pick your nose-----

Ok, for $64,000 and a chance to go to the lightning round, why the heck did I just read this entire thread!! It was rough for the first 8 pages, then you all started talking about trannys and front diffs so I read on. Well that briefly fizzled out and it was back to the same discussion as before. I think some of you are taking this a bit too seriously and need to chill. We're talking about atv's, not some super high-tech spacecraft.

I do have one real question though, why did the article on the main page of this forum a while back say that a couple of the new '05's have disk brakes? That makes it sound that it has disk brakes all around, when it really still has drum AND disk. I wonder why Honda didn't just do away with drums or did they on a particular model? It's just something I've been wondering.

lownrangr,
im sorry you spent so much time reading this post, much of it is useless..

When I bought my 2003 Rincon in October of 2002,I wondered WHY Honda put a disk in the rear and drums up front??It just did not make any sense to me..I am not what you would call an AVID mudder only, but any drum style brake I've ever had on any ATV I've owned since 1983,has ALLWAYS eventually leaked in water/debree..So it bothered me that Honda did this to the Rincon, and YEP,the front drums did start to leak on it..I chuckle at those who tell me they are MUDDERS and their drum brakes work GREAT..I mean, after all,the aftermarket companies sell Disk Brake conversons ect for a reason..

I cant give you any credable answer except it must be something that Honda beleives in,but its going to eventually catch up to them in LOST sales eventually IMO.

The only thing I don't like about disc brakes, and maybe it is only Polaris's brakes, is that I have seen a lot of them bleed down and the ATV role away. I guess adding park took care of that, but I figure a rear drum makes for a better park brake because it is mechanical and not hydraulic.

I would think it has to do with, the disk setup in back is overkill. The drums are more than up to the job of locking the brakes, because so much weight transferrs to the front, that alot of clamping force isnt needed in back.
Also, the drums in back are cable operated, and not hydralic...so if disk was put in back, a master cylinder and hydralic hose would also need to be added. But because the hydralics already exist in front, it wasnt a big deal , or big cost, to change the drums to disks.
