And MOTO wonders WHY?
You see MOTO,I dont usually like to reply to stupid people with few brains.And after some of your kiddy comments to myself and others,along with you being stupid,its also obvious that you have very few brains..In fact,your so bad,if brains were taxed,you'd get a rebate...
And far to often I dont answer your questions because you lack brains to understand my answer in the first place..Its like you fell out of a STUPID TREE and hit every branch on the way down.

It would be nice if you guys could bottle up your anger and venon, and use it for the next public hearing on trails, and legislation. Where were you when they closed down riding areas? We're on the same side here....Lets save some energy to fight the tree huggers, and treat each other with a bit of respect.

Ride what you want to ride.
Honda makes a great quad in either catagory. and no matter what extreme you wanna take anything to im sure you could get anything stuck. Like you aint gonna ride up and undercut 100' shale cliff. you might winch up it but then thats not riding thats winching. and the fact is 99.99% of ATV enthusiests do no even come close to challenging the limits of their machines. and Hoda's 3wd works for most people who ride them. If you do differnt you should choose a machine that fits what you do. Its like on the farm I dont go buy a 15hp Kubota when i need a 325hp Deere to get the job done.
Side note: Name calling, Insults on intelligence do no one anygood. Just closes minds and ya loose all validity to your arguments. Keep in on the straight n narrow guys.

I quoted nothing. I also didn't say un-locked ATVs will go anywhere locked ATVs will. I said " The vast majority of the ATVs without locking differentials will take their owners 100% of the places they ever go." I don't believe that most people who ride ATVs can't go where they want because the don't have a locking front differential. Most people who have them seldom use them. So how often do you think people who don't have one would need one? Not everyone rides their ATV to its full potential. Only a small minority of riders "mud" or constantly push their ATV's to their limits. Your riding group might push theirs, but you are not the majority.
I can only speak from experience. We do not "mud". We ride with Polaris, Grizzleys, Yamahas and one Kawi 650 V twin. They have never gone anyplace we can't. On a couple of occasions, I have out a climbed a Polaris 700 (true 4-wd) in technical situations on our Rancher. Granted, a lot is the rider, but the machine counts too. So I can say from personal experience that our Rancher with a "torque sensing" front differential has out climbed ATVs with locking differentials, just like you have seen locked out climb un-locked. (I am sure though more locked out climb un-locked by far)
I believe only a very small pecentage of ATV riders actually need or bennefit from a locking front differential. If Honda offered one or they came eqipped with one, that would be great, I would never turn one down if it was on the ATV I wanted. But, I would not buy a different ATV just because it had a locking front differential.
Kind of like the Ford Explorer. It is a 4-wd, is it the most capable? Hardly. I don't even consider it an off road vehicle. It is the best selling SUV (4-wd) in the United States. I guess people should quit buying it because it doesn't have a 390 HP Power Stroke diesel engine, because if it did, it would pull better. There are other SUVs with in the same price range that are faster, have hight GCVW, higher tow ratings, and so on. Ford too had better look out!! LOL

After reading through all of this for about an hour I have seen good spoints from each side of the argument, I have to agree most with MotoX. But one person really irritates me, and that's MUDDY4LIFE. He has no point what so ever and wants to act like a child. He spent 2 pages name calling those who have different opinions and then all of a sudden changes his tune and acts like he does nothing childish. Grow up dude, Im ashamed to even no you as a atv rider for the simple fact you imply you are an adult. Just admit when you don't have a right answer and admit when your wrong. At least then you can still be respected. It also seems you have done this in another forum and got booed out.
