The MudBug is one of the best "all around" tires out there. Great on trails. They are lite and are really in their element in the mud. I have ITP 589s on my Rubicon and the MudBug on my Rancher. The Bug is much better due to their good self-cleaning properties and the ability to steer them well in the mud. The 589s clean well but you seem to be at their mercy when it comes to steering in mud. They also tend to float on mud instead of digging down. Me on my Bugs and my cousin on his Bi/Tri Combo are about equal for mudding ability. They are more aggressive than Mud-Lites, Dirt Devils, etc. But tread wear is slow, so they last for a long time. They have very stiff side walls and while they do adequate on rocks, they will beat you some. But you have less to worry about as far as puncture though. They do great in snow. I would gladly buy a second set of Bugs. The only other tire I would go with is a more aggressive line such as Outlaws for the type of riding I do.

I would say that whether you ride a lot of mud or not should be a good determinate. It sounds like you probably do. The wider tire definitely helps because it gives you better floatation and paddle ability through mud. The extra bite should also help on rocks. Since you are thinking about running a 25, you should turn either width fine but you will maintain better power with the narrower tire. The difference will probably be minor though. If it were 26s it would be much more noticible.
