I darn well hope Honda is monitoring this forum!

Since 99 when the 400EX came out, we got four utes (Rancher, Rubicon, Rincon, Rancher AT). What did we see in the way of performance sport bikes since then? Nothing until the 450R last year. Did it really take them 5 long years to put the 450 toghether? Would it have taken that much R&D effort to stick the XR650 engine in a sport quad frame? No, they pissed away all their R&D efforts bringing us one fat a$$ ute after another (with some needlessly complex automatic transmissions!), and left the sport bike line to rot!

Time you started to play catchup guys! Oh, and asking the same MSRP for the 400EX as the Z400, is just plain laughable!

Where is the Honda TRX250R 4-stroke in your list??? That motor in a 300EXish frame would be a hit out on the trails!

If you look at the dirt bike end (where our ATV motors ultimately come from), Honda has put all its eggs in the MX CRF450/250R and Off-Road CRF450/250X baskets. All the other engines seem to be falling by the wayside. (Funny how those MX dirt bikes get updates every 5 minutes, while the Off-Road line and the ATV's go untouched for years!)

Will the XR650 Big Red Pig survive, or will it go the way of its other XR brothers? Will the CRF450X be the NEXT BIKE TO DOMINATE BAJA??? Think about it........why ride a 650 when you can do the same on a lighter, higher tech 450??? The 450 dirt bikes are having no problems getting 50 horsepower. Maybe the XR650 gets dropped too, in a few years? But, the XR400 engine lives on in an ATV frame, maybe the XR650 engine will live on in an ATV frame also???

What about the rumored 250cc light, selectable 2wd/4wd "true" sport ute. I am dreaming of someting along the lines of the Wolverine, but taken to the extreme. I am absolutely NOT dreaming of another cookie cutter farm tractor ute, even if it is clothed in SUV plastic!

I salute reconranger and all those who have responded. Yes, all the manufacturers have "moles" and "plants" in these forums on almost a daily basis for the purpose of research, as well as to see who has loose lips. It's the most non-invasive way for them to do market research.
The idea is to rattle their cages and show them what the masses really want. I know the sport segment to a much greater extent than the utility market and to the best of my knowlege, they may have discussed the feasability of a CRF 250 based quad but it is not in their immediate plans as of yet, though if that information comes to light, I will be sure to inform the masses to the extent I can.
I will also keep my ears open to the utility market and see what I can uncover.

The Phantom.....will keep digging....

So basically all the "phantom" is trying to do is run around spreading rumors of most of the quads already mentioned on this sight, and if one does come out, take the credit. Dude, get your jollies somewhere else! LOL

Post like this are funny to sit back and read.............I do understand "wishing" for the latest greatest bike, BUT what I don't understand is "wanting" to be the First One buying the latest and greatest bike.............. Some of you RUN out to get the new quad, then you complain, whine, and cry because it has tranny problyms ect. And not to mention when the aftermarket designs the new stuff for it they price it double what is it worth. Some of us just sit back, wait for you to get all the kinks out , THEN when the NEXT greatest quad comes out you sell your current one, and we buy it for half the cash you have dumped into it! We mod the HE11 out of it (by now the price of aftermarket stuff has decreased) and smoke your current latest greatest quad! LOL, not trying to ruffle feathers, but just seems funny to me

I'd say this Phantom dude is all about what we here in Mexico call "Puņeta Mental".

HINT: It's that same thing most 12 year old boys are obsessed about, but with a different body part.

I will never rin around here and say..."Look! See I was right!!! I am the one who exposed all of this, I deserve all the credit!!!" No, I am meerly going to be "The One" who stands by what I say. If in two years time, there is nothing I have mentioned available to the consumer, I suggest you flame away and call me on it. All I seek is the eventual truth.

As to the fact that some of these atv's have been discussed in these forums validates my point that many who start these threads are manufacturer moles looking for leaks and or looking at interest. I however will not be one of those who makes a statement and then disappears into the night. I am here for the long haul and will not be the one to say, "I told you so!!!"

The Phantom....will not be discouraged....
