Could someone make it work, hey why not. Would it make a damn lick of sense to put a 3-5k dollar 2 stroke engine into a 1600 pound metro that originally retailed for 1300 dollars?

2-strokes are cheaper to produce than 4-strokes and produce better power per cc. Imagine a 2-stroke in something like the Mirano with that cvt tranny. It has potential from a performance point of view. BUT, the problem with 2-strokes is there is no dedicated lubrication system. They wear out quicker than 4-strokes. Not a big deal on recreational vehicles, but on a daily driver this would pose some problems in my mind.

Bumper to bumper 6 month 6,000 mile warranty?
You're right, I was wrong. Its much cheaper for a 2 stroke engine...

Clicky

Strip the outboard secton of it away and I'll bet it still costs you around 8k for 200 hp. How much does it costs for a GM 350 crate engine again? Yeah about 2500 bucks for 330 HP.

Fewer moving parts in a 2-stroke. They are cheaper to produce. This is no ancient Chinese secret maddog. Should we compare quads now? Say a Trailblazer or Blaster to 250 4-stroke?

Well I am positive Kawi will be coming out with a KX450F dirtbike for Bubba Stewart alone in the outdoor MX. I heard they will be introducing a quad to but, we will see I guess.

BlackStallion,

You are right about Kawasaki having the Mojave 250, but it was dropped from their lineup last year.

Outboard engines are and always have been rather expensive. Its possible that its cheaper to produce, but the outboard costs 8 times as much as the GM crate engine. Which do you think is more economical?

We can compare atvs and say the 2 strokes are cheaper, but its not the case with the engines you are talking about in the outboards. These engines are much more expensive. And since this is what you are talking about, that's what I'll go by.
