Is it ok for a 400ex to smoke lightly when you rev it then let off the gas?

I agree with Gabe on the Mobil 1 15-50 fully Synthetic. I have run this for several years. Four Stroke Tech recommended it in my old warrior when they worked on it and the oil worked great. So when I got my 400 last year I put the same oil in it and have ever since!! Never see smoke with my 440 kit.

Are you guys using regular mobil 1 car oil? Why does Web-Cam recommend using non-synthetic oil with their cams?

I use regular Mobil 1 - I have a web cam and have never had any probs. I didn't know that they didn't recommend this oil at the time. I hope everything will be alright - does anyone know why they don't want synthetic with their cams??

Best guess I got is that they are subscribing to an old myth of synthetic oil.

The camshaft in your atv is no different than that of an automotive engine, if synthetic oils caused problems with automotive camshafts (sometimes up to 4 per vehicle) synthetic oils could not exist in the marketplace.

Hey guys i read this post earlyer today and went to walmart and could only rember 20w50 I ended up getting castrol syntec blend 20w50 is this stuff ok to run in my 400ex. it says nothing about working with clutches. my 400 started smoking while warming up and i am hoping this will help. also i have always heard with cars you should stick wiht one brand of oil. does it matter with atvs and also i have heard dont go to synthetic then back to normal oil will this effect anything. thanks. oh yea this stuff is part synthetic.
