Default 400AT transmission

Several of my riding buddies have the 400 AT, and love the bike. Question though is under heavy loads and other situations the bike will not spin the wheels. Have others experienced that with thier bikes? And if you have do you see it as a problem or figure the bike is just not gonna let you abuse it.

I can spin mine no problem....obviously the only time I want the tires to spin is when I want them to (mudding and fun trail riding). Tell your buddies to shift their body weight around a little (put less weight on back tires) if they want to have fun. I weigh 220 lbs. and don't have a problem gettin' squirely.

sp to be honest, i think the 400at doesn't have as low as a 1st gear in esp mode as the 350 , reason being there were 3 ranchers, lol mine was buried half way up the floor boards in mud, i had a 350 rancher hook on front (4x4), then the 400at hooked on front of the 350, that was hooked to me, i was buried in coal mud which seems to be some of the thickest strongest holding mud i have ever seen, and i know that the 350 was able to spin easly, the 400at never got the wheels to spin, and he told me he had it wide open, both machines pulling on me had less then 200 miles and were 05's, now the 400at told me he had it wide open, but i can't guratnee he did, but it does seem it doesn't have the same low end as our 350's, sadly i buried both bikes by trying to pull me out, im sorry to say boots were also loss to that mud pit as we had to pick the machines up, took about 6 guyz per machine

Default 400AT transmission

This past weekend....My wife was trying to go through a mud hole that was pretty thick....It also was GA red clay mud.....The tire and rims got so caked up with mud she coudn't get the wheels to turn.....this was after backing up (in the hole) and trying 4 times before the tires got so heavy with mud.....This after my buddies with Rincon's couldnt even go half the distance that she went .....much less try and back up....Tires do make a diff.

Thick mud will even bind down my Foreman 450S with the performance kit. Some of the mud I have been in will bog me down in second gear and I will have to drop to first gear. Foremans are known for their low end torque supposidly. Our Rancher AT will go through anything the Foreman does so far. Actually the rancher hasnt been stuck yet. ESP mode first gear seems a little bit lower than automatic, or at least it will start to move quicker when in a bind than it will in automatic. I have noticed that when up against a log or something that needs to be crossed it is hard to get the wheels to spin or start moving when in automatic. Switch to ESP and it will jump the log a lot easier.
