i bought a rancher 350 4x4 last october put mudlite tires and a warn 424 select on it. Should i just keep that or is the 400 at much nicer or would they be just about the same the 350 is manual trans i do mostly yard work and push a plow in the winter some easy trail riding thats about it just wanted some input thanks

 

Keep the 350 man, I had the option of the 400 or 350 for the same price, but chose the 350 after riding both. The 350 has more torque and a more durable feel, and it is also a much better mud quad than the 400.

 

Any automatic is going to be less efficient than a manual, it's just simple physics. Most of the extra cc's that the 400 has, are eaten up by the transmission. Not to mention the difference you would be giving up in price. Not at all worth making a change. If you just can't resist spending some money, hop up your 350 as much as you can.

I would like to see a 400 with manual transmission! This would be the untimate bike for me. Lots of power, but not in a huge package.

 

i just had a chance to ride a 400at, i have a 350 with unlocker, my bike has a ton more torque even the guy who owned the 400 at told me my bike can pull much harder then his, the auto feature is kewl seems to rev real high for me, but i drove a kodiak the same day, i guess they rev high in auto, im use to kind of lugging my bike, anyway long story short i would definetly keep the 350 es over the 400at if you allready own it, my bike is funner to ride much more torque, unless you want complete smoothness get the auto, it is nice but certainly doesn't feel like a 400, i didn't race it but i have a feeling a could prolly beat it all the way to 4 th gear, he prolly has higher gearing, es was kewl real smooth but it don't feel like gears at all prolly something with the torque converter you can have it floor and push the button it doesn't jerk at all, any other questions let me know i just rode both of them yesterday

on a second note the kodiak has one of the softest suspensions i have ever felt honestly it felt amazing, no wonder those guyz can ride for ever its like being in a car, rancher ride stiff even with the perflex kit on a 350 rode that yesterday also, the kodiak destroys it in suspension, now mind u it felt less sporty but eh i definitely wouldn't mind half the stiffness the bike has, my back is killing me, lol ever honda rider stands up the kodiak guy didn't understand y till he rode my bike he said he almost broke his back on the first bump

about the mud pit abaility i believe the at has a better chance at doing mud, its allways in the right gear, i sometimes need 2 1/2 not 2 and not 3 , look at my post up above about mud pit, the 400 at was kicking *** in it going right over head lights with no problem, i believe the auto is an advantage in the mud not a disadvantage
