Suggested Retail?

Could someone tell me the average price of what I would have to pay for say a 400EX? I live in Omaha, Nebraska and the dealer near me has prices for everything, usually 300-500 over the suggested retail I see on this site. I figured you could get one for less than retail if you bargain, but now it seems it would be a long way for them to go down in price if they are that much over retail. How should pricing be compared to retail for all atv's? I'm looking to buy and checking out several models, but I don't want to get screwed over. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it.

I payed exatly $5700! I Knew the dealer so i got a pretty good deal. On average around here in Ca they are going for 6200-6700 out the door. Good Luck and let me tell you they are worth every penny!

You might be able to get a better deal if you go for the 2000 model instead of the 2001. That’s what I did with my new dirt bike. When they have last years model still on the floor next to the new ones they want to get rid of the old ones. Plus the 00 and 01 are identical unless you want the yellow but even then I’m sure you could save more than enough on the deal to buy stock yellow plastic and the black seat cover and sell the red or keep for later.

Here is AZ we have something called the Cycle Trader available at 7-11 and Circle K stores. Last February and March some Phoenix dealers were advertising the 400EX for $5,335.50 out the door. I bought one, it was well worth the 200 mile round trip. It would of cost $5,700.00 + tax + $105 shipping + $65 for the title here.
