Rancher Recall
#1
According to my recall notice for my rancher it's not for bad tie rods, it's for the rubber boots thst keep the dirt out. They show a diagram of a hand pulling up the edge of the rubber boot. They say if there tight you should be ok. I pulled on mine and they don't budge, has anyone received the notice and tugged on em and found them loose??? Sounds like a few posters are confused.
Seems eveones talking like they need to get the tie rod ends replaced.
Just wondering...?

Lemme see here, I felt the boots on my ATV and they felt good. Famous last words... the tie rod fails, it flips, you get killed, the insurance company sells your wheeler as junk, someone buys it replaces the tie rod, rides it and another fails, they get killed....
You reach under your Gold Wing, feel there are bumps on the weld so you figure its ok, because you got a letter to get the welds inspected, but you felt them they have been inspected, the frame breaks going down the highway, you get killed....
The PCV looked good after you parked your ST1300 and jumped on it a half hour later, although you got a letter to have it inspected by the Honda dealer, you inspected them, a truck blows a stop sign when you are at the intersection, you grab the brakes.... none...once again you are dead
the letter tells the consumer there may be a problem, and something about it so you understand, the Honda Tech is instructed how to properly handle the recall.
Take it in, have it inspected by the Honda dealer....

If you ever receive a recall notice, whether its a car, quad or bike, bring it in and have it fixed ASAP. Recall notices are only sent out for SAFETY defects, things that could hurt you. Never ignore them or put off the repair, the dealer is responsable to review the recalled item, inspect, and replace according to the direction of the manafacturer.
Stuff like bad seat foam or defective plastics would not be issued under a recall but a technical service bulletin.
