Rancher At or foreman rubicon

HOLY COW! Those are great prices on the Pro Cycles site. I just got a 2004 Rancher AT GPScape and it was 6300 with the warrenty and after the $200 Bonus Bucks. That includes taxes and there are no setup or processing fees at my dealer. I had 2 other dealers that flat out told me to buy this one, because they couldn't come anywhere near to that one on price! Hell, I'd have gotten the Rubicon AT with the GPScape at the prices they have on their site.

Don't forget that they add freight and set-up which totals about 300-400 bucks. There prices are still pretty good though. As I explained in my post above they were not honest with me and because of that I spent a few hundred more at another dealer. Another thing about them is that I was able to haggle the set-up price. You cannot to that with freight because all dealers pay the same amount.

I would sugget Ted's. I also looked into buying my 500 from procycle, but I heard some stuff about their service department that I didn't like. From pricing around at dealerships around Mo. and IL. Teds was about the lowest. I got my 500 (S) for 5600 out the door and they have a really good service department.

I agree with you on their service department. About a month ago I tore my cv boot without knowing it. After driving with it for several weeks the bearing went out and I was not able to steer correctly. The service dept. manager knew exactly what was going on but he still said that he could get the bearing warrantied. It ended up costing me $60 to get the cv boot fixed. That, I have heard, was a good fair price. I also had my 100 mile check-up done out there as well which was about $140. Even though it is a 45 minute drive for me I still get my service done there.

The prices on the website at Procycle are just a way to get their foot in the door with you. I've e-mailed them and they told me the website was the price of the bike. I've also called them and they quoted me higher than the website and then told me about the $300-400 extra for set-up and crap. They have the AT on the website right now for $4800, which seems totally unreal, but I guarantee you'll be paying more than that. Still they do have good prices, but I don't know anything about their service department. They also have a store in Springfield, MO that may or may not be closer for you.

I bought my AT a year ago and have used it about 50/50 for farm chores and mudding. It works equally well in both areas...for me. My one complaint is the same on that everyone else seems to bring up, lack of low end power. I have had the ECM warranty work done, but that didn't help. It just allows the transmission to shift to first gear faster in "auto" mode when slowing down, but doesn't give it any more power. :-( I pull a small trailer with it on occasion to haul branches/brush and it does OK in ESP mode. It is plenty fast for me...topped out at 51 mph downhill with a tailwind on stock tires. I've only done that once, just so I would know, and have not found any reason to try it again. We have done some short, 100 yard, drag racing in the pasture and find that the 250 Recon is at least the AT's equal (which my girlfriend's daughter finds hilarious).
As far as the mud goes...I can pull the Recon out when it gets stuck. I tried to pull out another AT 1 time and you would have thought I was asking my machine to perform some sort of time travel. It just gave a groan and gave up. That's when I knew I'd have to invest in a winch. Seriously, though, if they're not stuck too bad, the AT can help, but it's definitely not the powerhouse on the trails. I have 26" Mud Lites on it now and they work well to keep me going in all but the nastiest stuff.
The ride, though a bit stiff when compared to other makes, is good. Not bone-jarring like some I've tried.
To summarize: I like my AT.......BUT.....(everyone I know has a big BUT).....If I had known a year ago what I know now...I would have gone with the Rubicon, for the sole reason that I would like to have MORE POWER...then again, who wouldn't???
