Took the rebuilt R to Croom
This weekend was the 1st time I took my R out since rebuild. Simply amazing! After riding a fully modded quad, I can never ride a stocker again. My signature doesn't even contain 1/2 of the new parts I have on it. Literally the only thing on it from 1986 is the frame...and even it has been gusseted. The +1 up 1 a-arms, x-33 axle, and Ohlins front and rear shocks completely changed the stability. Not to make anyone mad, but I am so glad I kept it instead of buying the YFZ. I'll try to get some pics up but Im up at college and my pops has our digital camera, so it might take a little while.

Glad to see you kept the R. I have two 86 250R's. I have on one of them: +1 a-arms, X-33 axle, Boyesen Rad Valve, wiseco piston, hinson clutch basket & clutches, intake and exhaust ported, twin air filter, and carbs been rejetted, ESR pipe and silencer, soon to add cool dome head. It dosen't play very nicely with YFZ's either. Just curious what kind of tires are you running on the rear? I had holeshots all the way around but the rear tires are bout gone. I wasn't very satisfied with there traction either. I hope to upgrade to the 450R soon.

I run 20X11X10 standard holeshots on the rear. Traction isn't the greatest like you said, but I tried a set of holeshot HD's off of a friends 450R and they are just to heavy. I tend to think a 2-stroke runs better when the rear tires slip a little so I will keep them on. I have a few buds that run the holeshot XC and they seem to like them...I think they are lighter than the HD.

Gotta love the two stroke love listening to the rpms sweet. How is Croom still have the long section of whoops I lived in Largo for about 7 years ago but moved back to ny I missed the snow and my buddies Croom is an awesome place to ride I had a bike at the time and would ride there 3 or 4 times a week Have fun keep the rubber side down

snowpounder, Croom was awesome. Not like in the old days when you could drive your quad right from the old Holiday Inn, but still good. I had to be careful on the tight trails though as the widened stance of my R would catch the sides occasionally. And oh yeah the whoops are still there! I was the only guy there skimming across the top in third gear over them! The bike handles so well now that the amount of confidence I have in her is almost scary.
