My Rubicon did this one day on me. But it was caused by someone turning the key off and on repeatedly. It was in slow mode and spit and sputtered in reverse too. I started turning the key off and on and it finally went back to normal. I guess i should have payed more attention to how many times it took of turning the key key on/off.. If you haven't already fixed it try turing the key on and off repeatedly about 6 times or more, i had mine in gear when i fixed it but don't know wehter you have to or not....

YOUR ECM IS WET. It is located behind the tool box/storage compartment below the rear rack. Air hose and/or dielectric spray will do the trick. DO NOT do anything pertaining to angle/speed sensors etc. until you have checked this first. Also, make sure your regulator/rectifier is plugged in tightly, located beneath the right rear fender. Hope this solves your problem.

thanks for all the great advice but i have one question ,the dielectric grease should it be put on the outside of the connectors or should i disconnect them and put some on the pins also ?????
