Default help me with my trx200

i just got my honda trx200sx thats been in the garage for 2 years out and i took the old gas out, new spark plug... i try and start it up it doesn't want to start up, ill hold the start button for a few seconds and it will start like 1/10 times. the place where the air filter is i have little bits of gas kicking out of there. when i covered up the air filter hole with my hand it started up for like 5 seconds and died again. my battery is dead and i dont know what to do. (recoil start is an incredible waste of energy and time)

if it starts with your hand over the intake (airfilter hole) A. your choke doesnt work or B. your possibly not getting enough gas. see if u can keep it runnin for 10 sec. NO MORE!!! by sprayin carb cleaner or starter fluid in the intake. i know someone will jump all over me tellin you to do this because it is possible fire could shoot back through the carb. ive done it a hundred times on cars atvs snowmobiles boats...pretty much if it has an engine ive done it. dont shoot a constant stream. start crankin it over and do short bursts. if it fires keep doin short bursts of what you are usin (carb cleaner or starting fluid) as the motor starts to die out. do not let the motor run for over 10 seconds if u have to keep sprayin to keep her runnin. it will burn up the piston or overheat if it is used for to long. I start my 250 2stroke snowmobiles like this atleast 10 times a year. it wont cause immediate enging damage.
