Hey guys. I have a 1991 Honda TRX250X. In first gear, it has a lot of power but all of the higher gears have very little power. It also will not start with the kickstarter I have to roll it down my hill or tow it to get it to start. I have no idea why. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

 

try a hotter burning spatk plug it should cost about 10 to 12 bucks thats what i run in my 88 that should solve the problem for starting. if the bike is all stock it might have bad piston an just take alot to crank it up if nothing works try that. it sounds like the tranny is broken or something mabe some teeth missing in the upper gears and not the lower. what modds do you have. try rejeting as for starting also. thats all that i have for now

 

Very common problem with these quads. Needs a new top end. Cylinder is borable and piston kit is reasonable. Also valve adjustment is neccessary after rebuild. Mine would not start with kicker anymore. After rebuild, one kick. Hope this helps.

 

oh if ya do go out and get a rebuild DONT forget the timing chain (new) or your stock one will stretch and you will be screwed! trust me iv done it!! well look at my modds and you will see what kinda engine work needs to be done to run with the 400's also take into concideration the lighter all my parts are so the bike is alot lighter than stock!! well hope this helps
