02 Recon jet kit help needed...
#11
I understand about the need for it at exteme angles to prevent it from flooding. However, if the quad is sitting at idle on flat ground it should not be making it run poorly. I keep mine plugged when riding in the swamp and the only time it gives me a problem is if I forget to unplug it before going off-camber or something. Just a thought.... I've been wrong before. Pull your plug and check for a rich or lean condition. If you get a rich reading, I'd still be suspicious of the choke cable being in a bind somewhere or your choke valve sticking inside the carb. I've seen it do this on many Hondas.

Really? I wonder if the difference in the carbs or something makes one more sensitive than the other? Well, hopefully between the drain and the choke, he'll be able to figure it out. It can get frustrating. After I did a jet/pipe change during a valve adjustment, mine ran terrible at idle. Turns out it was because I needed to line up the line under "T" instead of on the "T" at top dead center. I messed around with the carb for 2 days until I figured it out....what a pain : )

I blew out the hose with some air. Seemed to help a little but still runs bad. To get up through the hears accelerating, i have to have the choke pulled about half way to run half decent. Even then its not great but is better. Any other ideas? this sucks not being able to ride it.

Did you turn out the mixture screw enough with the jet kit install? When you reinstalled the throttle cable did you check to make sure that it was able to get full range of motion? Pull the plug and see if it's lean(white) or rich (dark Does it smell like gas?). Are you sure the gas you put in it is good? Is there any way any H2O could be in it? Disconnect the choke and make sure the enrichment valve is pushed down and seated as far as it will go. If you disconnect it and push it down and it runs well you know the choke is sticking. If no good, you can eliminate the choke as a culprit. If all else fails pull the carb again and check to make sure both the main jet and low speed jet are not clogged.
