Long story short! I got stuck in some mud (deep mud) my Rubicon died, I tried rocking it back and forth to get it in neutral but it was stuck I could not get it started. I had to get 2 four wheelers to pull me out. My question is: Is there a bypass for the neutral safety switch to start it in gear?
I know I’m not the only one this has happened to. Look forward to hearing from you.

 

You should be able to hold in the front brake to start in gear. Works in 2001 and 2005 models so, I'm assuming same would apply.

 

It will start in gear if you pull the front brake lever. It will not work with the rear brake lever, only the front brake.

 

will this work also for a 2001 400ex?

 

The 400ex has a manual clutch. If you pull in the clutch, it should start in any gear!

 

i was riding... and it would not start in gear. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesen't. Think the neutral saftey switch is going bad?

 

You may just need to adjust your clutch.

Your Rubicon will only start in forward gears with the front brake lever (right) pulled. With the key on and engine off, you can hear a small click when the bypass switch switches.
