HI,

Well took my Rubicon in for its first maintenance today. When I got home I took it for a spin everything seemed too be workin, rode for bout an hour on some trails that were mostly up hill and I was in low gear. I have done this twice before and my Rubicon never overheated, but this time it did and was wondering if this has happened too anyone else and if I should call my dealer and see whats up?? The antifreeze level is fine and the raditor seems clean. He told me how he checked the valves, said he had too move the air system up and stuck a hammer under the gas can?

A hammer under the gas can? See if there is one there. If so I suggest you leave it and take some good pics and complain ton Honda about that dealer. There is no excuse for any solution like that???

It sounds like you need to find another dealer to perform your required maintenance ASAP!

Those darn dealers. When I took my 400ex for a 10hr service I marked the caps they have to remove to adjust the valves. When I picked up the 400 the marks where in there original position, they had not been moved. The mechanic at the dealer said, "I don't remember if I checked the valves." Sheesh, anyway they redid everything. I'm pretty weary towards dealers now.

HI,

Well I fixed the prob, it was the fact that I didnt see that behind the plastic cover was the raditor. so I read the manual and took it off. The manual said too keep it less then 20% covered (raditor I mean) well the raditor was 101% covered in mud and caked on grass always thought I was cleaning it when in fact all i was cleaning was the plastic cover DOH!. I ran for bout 3 hours today, didnt overheatand and I ran it harder then usual. Since I have no clue how too do a valve check I have too trust the dealer. I thik the dealer did an ok job from what I can tell.

Thx for the replies

Yep, mine overheated on me today. After splashing through some creeks, and then riding some dusty trails, the front grill plugged up pretty good. I don't know what the radiator itself looks like yet. I'll find that out tomorrow.
