'01 400Ex - Hard to pull clutch lever
Hey all,
I have a '01 400EX, as well as an '04 Z400...
The '04 Z400 has a really easy to pull Clutch lever...
The '01 400EX ALOT harder to pull the clutch then the Z400.
What i am curious of, is if i bought a new clutch lever for the Z400, and installed it on the 400EX would it make it just as easy to pull, or is there something else that is making the clutch soo hard to pull?
Thanks.

i wouldnt put a suzy lever on a honda that prolly wont fix your problem. my clutch isnt very hard but then again i dont have anything to compare it to. i would think it is either a bad cable or the honda just may have stiffer clutch springs, and you dont want to change that.

Your clutch cable is a wear item just like anything else on your ex. It needs to be lubed frequently to maintain its smooth operation.
If it never has been lubed, I would go ahead and get a new cable.
Also, I doubt the suki cable will fit, i believe they have different ends on them? I may be wrong

Call these guys. Basically, you will get a new perch and lever that has an extra hole drilled. It reduces the pull by 30%. I got mine from NACs but later saw them for less elsewhere.
You will be losing the emergency brake setup too. You should get a blockoff plate for the rear caliper if you don't already have one. You will also lose the clutch safety switch. Basically, you will be able to turn the starter over whether the quad is in gear or not.
