Default Rancher owners

Looking for information on the front diff.

On a 05, 350, is the front diff the suretrac, torque sensing differential? Like the one they use in the forman and rubi.

What year did they start putting that in the rancher?

mines an o1 and all I know is if 1 tire is off the ground then the other tire doesn't move. If i hit the brakes the tire in the air will stop spinning as fast and the other tire will pull. If both tires have traction it pulls like a mule.

yeah, the 05 is the A.P. Suretrac 'torque-biasing' front drive mechanism, basically a primitive "limited slip". Some of the older ranchers have a clutch plate-and-friction disc assembly i think, much like limited-slip rear ends on trucks, but the new ones use cam-followers and have no composite material to wear out, everything is metal. I dont know what year they made the switch, but i think it was in 04 with the new body style, but i could be totally wrong.

The system works basically so either front wheel will work but makes steering easier, if the front diff was locked steering would be way harder. The limited slip thing works a little but it really doesnt help much. It would be better if honda put a manual diff-lock lever on these things, with the solid rear axle these things would be way better in the mud.
