You really should pick a new Nickname to use.... You use "z4004life", yet you own a 400EX, and bash on the Z400..... That's kind of Hypocritical if you ask me....
But as has been said OVER and OVER and OVER again..... The 400Ex is a great machine... The Z400 IS faster, Both are EQUALLY reliable, and EQUALLY durable ...
The '03 Z400 had a FEW weakness problems with the chassis, but all those problems have been addressed since '04. The moron that said if you roll a Z400 the radiator will fall out, is just stupid.
P.S. To the person that said the 400EX makes a better trail ATV..... Buy a Utility Quad than... Sport Quads are made for SPORT, Which means Jumps, and a Z400 handle's jumps better than a 400EX... But the Z400 Just no better/worse on a trail than a 400EX...
PLEASE let this thread DIE already.... The original question has already been answered OVER and OVER and OVER again...

I own a 2003 400 EX. It has very good handling and it is stable. I am a recreational user so don't much care how fast I can go, but let me tell you that (at least for me) it has more juice than I want to give it (upwards of 50-60 mph).
The only problem with the 400 EX is the parking brake issue. Once the rear pads start to wear down the parking brake cylinder screw, on the rear brake clamp, needs to be adjusted. If you search for 400 EX parking brake in this forum you will find more threads than you care to find. I personally don't use my parking brake and keep the screw all the way out -- others buy a parking brake block off kit.
Whatever you decide to do...the 400 EX is a great machine. Good luck.
