Default pull starter leak shield?

I just recently got my engine rebuilt on my rancher and noticed the other day after riding i had got water in my pull rope. I seen these pull starter leak shields by highlifter are they worth it, and how hard are they to put on? thanks

if you ride in water alot, it is worth it... ranchers have a reputation for allowing water into the motor through the pullstarter. over time this will burn your motor up.. most of the people that have this problem are the type that do not properly maintain their vehicle enough... i completely check my bike before and after every ride b/c i cant afford for it to go down on me... even though i do this i will probably seal off my pullstarter down the road anyway just beause i dont want water in my engine period!!!

i don't know about this reputation for water in the engine, i have seen like 40 ranchers locally and have asked them, and no one online that i have talked to has run into the problem, not saying it don't exsist but its certainly not a major problem

it becomes a problem when you ride your bike in deep water often... i personally have had no trouble with this but would rather spend 20 dollars than ruin a machine. if your worried about it then i say buy it.. better safe than sorry

live2mud,

Pull it off and check for water. If there is any, dry it out. Most likely there won't be any, especially not a fair amount. Then go out and buy some silicone and put it on the edges of the pull starter plate, then put her back on there and don't worry about it every again.
