Default 450 ES Reverse won't work

Reverse stopped working on my '02 - 450ES, I've heard its usually the cable out of adjustment ... is this an easy do it yourself fix or a dealer issue... can anyone point out where to start for me?

Thanks

The freeplay is adjusted up by the lever, its supposed to be 1/16 to 1/8". Then check down by the crankcase to see if the lever down there moves. Shoot some lubricant down the cable, as long as your adjusting it.

OOOPS! The adjusment nut was very rusted and in the process of loosening things the whole thing snapped ... guess I'm looking at a new cable?

Where does the cable actually connect ... under the right foot? What kind of a job is replacing the cable?

Thanks

The rust probably got inside the cable, and thats why it wasnt working. I think its pretty straight forward on the replacement. When you get the new one, route it the same way as the original.
