Raptor is good for nothing

I race on a local flat track. There was a raptor there this past weekend. Watching this guy was the funniest thing i've did in a while. The thing has so much power that when he came off the line he flipped the atv completly on top of him. That was all he wanted in the heat. The feature he comes back timmpsssyyy all over the track and finally tipped over and flipped and went through a barb wire fence! I give it to yamaha for building a awesome bike, but think about it no one really needs that kind of power out riding, if they do it's just to say they have it, and it's not looking to good on the track either. Just my 2 cents

Haha, I agree, I'd say the Raptor was more than a handful for that rider. I haven't ridden a Raptor yet, but from what I've seen, they seem to be a good quad (as long as they hold up in the long run). I'd like to ride one sometime, but I don't think I'd trade my EX in on one, I already get myself into plenty of trouble with a 'mere' 27hp.

I've did alot of stupid things in mines life 2, but I would not judge an book by it's cover.
With that said, very well I might add, I would love to get my a$$ on a Raptor. I think it would be a rather exhilarating ride.
I suppose the Raptor rider was the only person who wrecked that day as well?
Just my $.02.

Sounds like a loose nut behind the bars more than anything. I used to consider myself a pretty good bike rider until I hopped up on a friend's open class CR500. Then I realized I was just a babe in the woods. Too much bike for the rider. I am just glad I only embarrassed myself in front of 2 or 3 other people, not a whole stadium.

A guy races a Raptor where I race TT and flattrack and is doing well. He doesn't have the handling down yet but if he gets the holeshot he's almost impossible to pass. I've beat him to the first turn a couple of times on my 400ex. The Raptor pulls hard out of the corners though.

Your quote:
"I give it to yamaha for building a awesome bike, but think about it no one really needs that kind of power out riding..."
My answer: To much is never enough. I don't care who makes it, if it has tons of power, then I want it.
And don't judge a machine by its rider. I ride with 400EX here in Maine. The guy can't ride to save his life. Makes the machine look incapable, even though it is just him.

I had a friend that rode a YZ250, he weighed 100lbs soaking wet and was only about 5 feet tall. Too much bike for him. One time when we were riding he had it pinned in 2nd gear and as soon as it hit the power band, it shot right out from under him. He was so pissed that as soon as he got back on it, he nailed it again and did the very same thing, but this time he didn't get up so fast. He was skinned up from head to foot, good thing I had a first aid kit!

Haha, I've know this guy (I wouldn't call him a friend) who is about 5'4" and 120lbs at MOST, and the retard just bought a '00 CR500!! The guy talks crap nonstop, says his old banshee could beat everything (wasn't even piped), you know the type.
I finally got a chance to watch him ride the CR500 on a recent trip some friends and I took to the dunes. I don't think he hit the powerband ONCE on that whole ride! I'm suprised he didn't foul a 6-pack of plugs. And the first time he tried to take a little hill climb (that the 250s were getting like 20' of air off of), he didn't even get off the ground, but was on the throttle too much coming over the crest, and looped it over backwards! That really made my day. That, and the fact that I could outride him on my 400EX through the trails, hillclimbing, jumping, you name it. He got put in his place on that ride.

i've got a ct310r, a motofast banshee and a raptor just got it thurs. if that guy couldn't keep the frontend down on a raptor i couldn't imagine him on an open class tt r with a -2 swingarm. i love my r and will not ever sell it exempt to upgrade to an aftermarket chassis. but i have to say a a converted diehard honda fan that yamaha has designed a very killer machine. with the exeption of the air cleaner assembly which is worst than the banshee's and the high center of gravity this is the best stock machine availible. i'm sure the aftermarket will solve the airfilter problem and with a set of zero preload style shocks this bike will handle as well as any honda(mabee a slighty wider track).
