yz426 vs cr500

This maybe true but...
1: there will be MANY MANY used 2 strokes alive and well for so many years, and they will never BAN them, so Im not worried. Afterall, my 12 year old KX500 still runs so strong and is so reliable, They can go ahead and stop producing them. The 250R was only made for 4 years, and look how many are still around 15-19 years later.
2: Your post has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

1: You outran an R6 until 50+ because of your short, snappy gearing vs. the R6's long, street gearing. That 4 banger has to get out of the hole slowly, and wind up before it makes its power.
Once he had first gear sorted out, he blew by you so fast, your "britches" fell off.
2: Where I ride, (OFF road.. Im a streetbike guy too...) in Glamis/Dumont/Pismo, everyone has paddles. Traction isnt much of an issue. A CR/KX500 vs. any quad
is downright comical up the hill, especially when that 500 has a 10 paddle back there. Its downright painfull for any quad rider to be caught behind a 500 with a brand new paddle in the sand.

Now that I can vouch for, I am an bombardier dealer and the new DI(ficht) injected outboards, are the cat's ***, the emissions are ideal and as always the 2 stroke power is phenomenal. The 2 stroke of new will by far out do the four stroke in outboard technology...

I wouldnt talk about something you dont really know about, although cannondales have alot of weight in the front, they have a swingarm that a little mellow for the power produced so you dont just blast from zero, it takes time to wind up too.

I dont know about?
I have owned numerous bikes, (CBR600, ZX-7R, CBR900RR, YZF-R1, RC51) and have experience with many more. (GSXR750, R6, SV650, Katana 600 to name a few)
And I wont even mention all the quads, 3 wheelers, and dirtbikes I have owned, let alone had experiences with.
Not sure what it is like in Maryland, but out here in California we have Glamis. Attend Glamis one Thanksgiving, or one Holloween and spend 2 hours at Oldmobile hill.
(or comp hill, or china wall....) You will race more quads, bikes, golf carts, sandrails,Odysseys, and costom built machines than you have ever seen in your life. (and I have been a glamis junkie for years.. and pismo, and dumont)
I am well aware of how fast a Cannondale is.
There isnt anything in this sport I dont know about.

What is it that you think I havnt seen?
I used to have a built quadzilla (see avatar) that would have handed any cannondale its ***, but guess what....
a race against a 600 supersport would have handed it ITS ***. (of course)
Yea, it would have pulled it from the line in a big hurry..... but after a few seconds, the 600 would blow by it.
Im not exactly sure what you are trying to convince me of.
I have no doubt that your cannon pulled an R6 up to a certain speed... (40, 50, 60)
But I also know WHY it did. Because the R6 is a street bike and cannot launch out of the hole like a quad can.
Even if your cannon went up against my modded RC51, it would still pull it out of the hole. You can dump the clutch on a quad and get movin, QUICK.
When a quad races a competent streetbike on the road (naturally), its only a matter of time before the bike blows by the quad.
I hope you are not arguing that fact.

i think what he is trying to say it dont matter how much horsepower you have if you havent got the torque or the traction or control to harness it anyway, in the sand is a little different thing. i have had very built stroker banshees, put a 100 horse banshee in the dirt with a 50 horse cannondale that dale will beat the crap out of the banshee. i know i have had both, throw them in the sand where traction isnt an issue yah the banshee,s got it. and the machine has got to be predictable and ridable. and thats where the fuel injected dale really shines. but they all have ther place just 2 different animals and between the 426 and 500 we all know when the 500 gets traction it will eat up a 426 but put them in a gas and go trail and that same 500 will be long behind.

CR 500 HP - 59
YZ 426F HP - 49........I have TONS of old magazines...ask my wife...& I did some research, like it or not, those are the true numbers.(The CR 500's motors didn't change from 1991-2001..it's last year - The 426F HP was from the 2002 model)

(regarding ATKrider's post)
Your absolutely right...
This is kind of like putting any quad up against a streetbike.
Streetbike is completely out of its element at the standing start. (unless you want to FRY that clutch, then you can get a good fast jump)
The quad (really any quad) is IN its element from the hole. Short gearing, 4 wheels.
This is why the quad will pull the streetbike up to a certain point, but we know that the streetbike will be catching up at a frightening pace after just a second or two...
As far as the quad against my KX500, yes. In dirt, on a trail, or a dirt drag, I am much faster on my Banshee than on the KX500 (w/ a knobbie of course)
The KX has too much thrust to play around on slippery dirt. Even in its top gear, 5th, pinning the throttle in a straight line produces massive tirespin and roost.
Its really not too much fun. (OK, for a few minutes it is)
In the sand, with the 10 paddle, 5th gear wheelies from about 50MPH and faster dont require the clutch... at all.
