yz426 vs cr500
#71
Both of these bikes are really great honda and yamaha did very well when making them i used to race a cr 500 and a 426 from a guy that wasnt a better racer beat me this was a drag on a 1/4 when we took off i has him by a pretty good distance but when we started getting topped out here he was coming gaining quick and beat me i think that it takes a lot more for a four stroke to wined out than a 2 stroke 436 faster in 1/4 cr 500 faster in 1/8

The 426 catching up in the end had nothing to do with how long it takes a 4 stroke to "wind out".
The 500 2 stroke will out accelerate a 426 4 stroke until the 500 2 stroke runs out of GEAR.
There is no way the 426 CAUGHT UP to you while you were accelerating through 5th gear.
(I said ACCELERATING... not topped out)
He probably had a taller top gear, and thus out ran you when you were both at top speed.
Either that or my KX500 is CONSIDERABLY faster than a CR500. There isnt any chance that even a 450 would catch my KX in a straight line pavement drag.

on my 91 cr500 with pro circuit pipe and mild engine work i saw a kid riding a bike down the road so i pulled the front end up for about 800ft , it hung up pretty well, even when it started to fall the bike had a little rpms left with the stock ehaust timing and kept it up. ive ridden a friends 426 and its a slug compared to the 500, without a doubt it would win in a 1/4 mile

An extended swingarm would do me some good too... but only when hill-shooting. I dune my KX all over glamis/pismo/dumont.

My stock (geared and tire sized) 1999 Yamaha R1 would do exactly 89MPH on the limiter in first gear.
114 on the limiter in second,
13x limiter in third, ect. I have onboard video if anyone needs more convincing. (a video of myself on the R1 downshifting to second at about 80MPH, then on up through the gears into 6th and 166MPH, a weak run, to be sure)
My current Honda RVT1000R (RC51) will do between 70-75 in first, 102 in second, ect.
Most 600's will do 65ish tapped out in first.</end quote></div>
