350X lighting problems
i just bought an '85 350X in great shape and every thing works but the lights. I bought new bulbs and they both worked when the bike was in idle but when i reveved the engine the lights would blow out on low, and then when i switched them to high beam they would also blow out when i reved the engine. this has happened to me with 2 sets of bulbs. any ideas why?? this is my first post by the way

Sounds like your rectifier is bad. This rectifier is your voltage regulator. I would replace it asap before it burns up your ignition. Put a volt meter on your lights and see what your voltage is. I don't know what it is supposed to be, but I would say if it is over 15 volts than you have a problem. I just burnt up my tachometer on my ds650 trying to start it with a battery charger. I did'nt know until now that a battery charger puts out around 18-20+ volts on crank mode/boost. I fixed the tach and know not to use a battery charger to try and start a atv, only uae for charging for now on. Well give it a try and see what you got. Note: you probably know this already, but you can find these on ebay new and used. I would try a good aftermarket one. Good luck and let us know what turns out. RUSS

Mine did the exact same thing and I noticed that my AC Regulator had a wire broken off of it causing my bulbs to burn out on low, then high, then proceeded to burn out my tail light bulb lol. You should be able to find a used one off of ebay for a decent price. If i were you i would stay away from buying a new one from honda....its around $100 ! Good luck man i'm out. Later.
