Default Honda Rancher AT Power Issue

You have 6 months of warrenty from the day your buy you ATV, All but wear items are covered. Now they may cover clutchs in the first 6 months as a GOOD WILL. I would ask the deal to call Honda and ask for some help because they did have prior problems with these. Doesn't hurt to call them yourself, phone number in owners manual.

Default Honda Rancher AT Power Issue

I have an 04 AT and have the same issues. It has had all the recall work. I have been reading this forum for a couple of years now and many people have the same issue with this machine. It is like they tried to combine two machines into one. In the AT mode it is a blast driving the logging rodes, running the open pastures, and general riding over 20 MPH. When I snow plow, pull the small trailor, swamp ride, or have the kids on, I always switch it over to the manual mode. If I don't, I deal with having little power. It is an OK machine, and will do anything I want it to. I would give it a 6.5 out of 10. I have been a honda guy for a long time, all the way back to my first 110 & 185s. I love the 400-450 class ATV. They are $1500-$2500 cheaper, nimble enough plus I can go most places the big boys can. Unless Honda can do something with the 420 Rancher when it comes out in an Auto, my next one is going to be a Can-Am or Yamaha.

I am no fan of belt drive. I love my rancher AT and it does all that I want it to do, but I should have gotten the Rubicon. My next utility will be a Can AM 800 Outlander for sure. I will still keep the Rancher for my wife, she loves it and it is perfect for her.

I am no fan of belts either. All my Honda's have been great machines other than the 400. It is only adequate. After riding my buddies Outlander 400, Grizzly 450, and Polaris X2, I am becoming a fan of the IS rear suspension and how they perform in auto. Yes, I know they aren't Honda's. I can't wait until Honda comes up with a machine with the rear IS rincon suspension & the rubicon hi/low tranny & 420 motor & agility. I will be the first in line to buy!!!

Yes I agree. A Rubicon Tranny with a motor as agile as the new 420 (but more power), and a stable IRS like the Can Am (or maybe double a-arm rear), and that Genuine Honda reliability would be SWEET!
