Rubicon Tires
#1
I've recently have done some upgrades to my 2001 Rubicon such as Warn 424 and Detroit Gearless Locker now I'm looking to get some new tires. I'm mainly looking at the ITP XTR's or the Bighorns. My main type of riding is everything but extreme mud. Suggestions?

I have the XTRs on my Rubicon. Other than being expensive, I have not found a fault with them. They are relatively light weight, they do good in the mud, they handle well and ride smooth. To me, they are the best combination of a mud and trail tire.

I installed the locker about 2 weeks ago and so far it has worked great and it does totally eliminate slip. Steering effort is increased but it is not so difficult to be a real problem. When you turn the bars fully either direction you can feel it let go to allow the turn. The one thing I really like is that the front wheels pull no matter what in other words theres no need for rear wheel slippage or any sort of hesitation to get them engaged. Now if I pull up to a log or rock with just one front wheel it will pull right up. When I first installed it I expected the steering to be much more difficult than it is but its not a problem.

Been very happy with our Big Horns. They have over 1000 miles on them and are wearing great. They are an excellent snow and trail tire. They ride nice too.
We had Goodyear Mudrunners and thought we were happy with them. They big thing about the Goodyears were thay are hard as a rock. The new Maxxis are such an imporvment I will never buy bias ply tires again.
