Chains on Rubicon tires
#1
I am from Canada, work a trapline. Right now we have not quite enough Snow for
Snowmobile. Have a foot of Snow. Other years quite tough sledding thru the Snow, on on the quad, particularly pulling a trailer with a Moose in it.
Was thinking of trying a set of chains.
Anyone in the Northern States tried chains. How are they for climbing ridges?

HI KENORA;
I am sure studs are great, but like a vehicle they should be removed for Summer as
they will just wear down.
We run continuous rock ridges, the studs would wear out and rip out.
Have you used them on rock ridges, any experience on this.?
Our line is Nopoming park 350 sq. miles of mostly rock ridges. Thats why we thought
chains would be the answer, use them in the snow until it was snowmobile time.

i would try the chains. i live at 7000 ft and it snows here too and i use chains. they are better on the back, but i have used them on all 4 tires. they will either get you where you want to go or get you stuck real quick. they flat DIG...
try them and see. try not sp spin the tires to much with the chains on. it's realy hard on the CV's if one get traction.

THX HR AND KENORA;
The input I was looking for. Yeah, will have to go easy on the spinning, good point.
They will sure be put to the test. They are on order. One more good snowfall and the
Arctic Cat Bearcat will be out.
Any other input re chains from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
THX.

HI PORKA;
My trapping partne and I are going to try the chains on the back, minimum spinning,
The Arctic Cat Bearcat is excellent, the dealer mechanic to do a couple mods with
front end to lower the centre of gravity for our terrain, as it was a bit tippy on the
side ridges. And a adj. on the carb as it was too jumpy, responsive. It is now the
ultimate for what we need, we like the 20 inch track in slush on Lakes, no problem.
Starts just like a car as it is 4 stroke, I have a older Bearcat, when I first started it
for the first time this Fall it sure smoked at first, with the old fuel. The 04 is quiet and clean.
