On a Rancher AT make sure that the ECM has been reprogrammed. When I got mine it wouldn't go over 35 mph and that is because it wouldn't shift correctly. It was a slug on take off. It now can ride wheelies. It also pulls stuff alot better. Mechanic said almost all have the same bad programming in the ECM.

so i should take it to the local dealer and ask them to reprogram the ECM?
i have an 04. and there is no way in hell mine will do a wheelie. it does top out at 51 mph on flat ground here at 7000 feet.

i'dd like more info on the ECM thing if you could please.

Well mine was sluggish starting off in Automatic and went better in ESP mode, but always sounded like it was starting out in 2nd gear. Mine would run in auto or ESP mode only about 35 mph and it sounded as though it was redlining. It was only shifting up to 3rd or 4th gear. My dealer said that not all of the 04 rancher ATs have this problem. You need to have them check it out. I had them check it out when I took it back for the tierod recall. Make sure you have the replacement tie rods put on. Mine were fine but they have had some separation issues on the original tie rods.
