A buddy of mine has a 650 Rincon, and we have switched quads a few times...
Compared to my quad, it's front suspension is softer, the IRS rides smoother, but to me mine feels more planted. If you are going to play on the whoops, you need to get your weight farther back, but you can run over rough terrain faster without feeling out of control.
In a rocky, steep, rutted hill, I really prefer the engine braking on mine, but the little bit of extra clearance on the Rincon is a plus. A lot of rocks seem to be in that range that will hit on mine, but not on his.
I would not consider it unsafe in mountain trails, or even a bad choice on rough, steep decents, you just need to use the brakes and pay a bit more attention. For example if you are on a steep downhill and using the brakes when the front wheel drops into a hole or rut, it can tend to want to stop the quad in an unstable situation. Mine, just letting it idle it's way down in granny will just roll in and crawl out...
The Rincon is also a bit more cold blooded than mine, and it has my friend thinking about getting an 06 Rincon... If that happens, I might try to come up with the scratch to buy his old one...
I guess that sums up my opinion: Could use a granny gear (but you can live without one) however I consider it quite worth owning.

The price I got on the 05 Rincon was $6,699 and the 06 Rincon I saw on the floor was in the high $8,000's so that is why I was like well heck if I'm gonna get a 06 Rincon I might as well just get the Outlander which seems to be the one that excites me the most. When I think about the Rincon and the KQ I do not get nearly as excited as I do when I think about the Outlanders. I also got to sit on one last night so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe Santa will bring me one. LOL.

$6700 for an '05 Rincon? WOW! That is really high.
I wish I could say I live in the middle of nowhere but St. Louis is a fairly good size city. W/n a few hrs of driving the '05 Rincon is over $1,100 cheaper than the price they quoted you.
I don't blame you one bit if that is what you want and they are charging those prices....I'd do the same thing!

Megan,
Did you see propnut's post a few up about an '05 Rincon's price in the N.E. I'm sure that is a drive but that may be worth it.
I think you have your mind made up though no matter what the cost is! Just go buy the 800!!!!!!!!! That is what you want!

Yeah, that bomber 800 looks to be a pretty fun quad, but IMHO a Honda will probably last longer and cause fewer problems.
As far as price goes, I went to my dealer and asked him (politely) if he could come close to a price I found on the internet. I told him I really preferred buying stuff locally, but couldn't afford to pay too much extra to do it.
He said he would check, and later that day he said he could match it, so I bought it from him.
Anyway, might be worth a shot taking the lowest price you can find down to your local dealer (without being rude or throwing it in their face) and seeing if they can earn your business...
The way I look at it, it would really be a PITA if that local dealer wasn't there when you need some small part, so you really aren't doing yourself any favors if you don't at least give them a chance, plus it could save you a long drive.

. I might have a friend set me up with a deal on a bf 650.IT is a sra but if the price is right i might settle. If that doesnt pan out I am goin to troy this weekend. I would not get a kq with all the problems they are having.I dont think it s just the filter. and i am not gambling with 7 grand ,with al the problems.

2sly4u,
Yeah I really don't blame anyone for making a decision against a KQ. I stll, however, have it up there for me against a Rincon. Over on Nyroc's site there are A LOT of happy KQ owners and they are all '05's! I just talked with one down in TX for a long time that still has his original air filter. He tightened it down and used the sealing grease and it is fine. The new '06's come with beefier tie rods as well.
Like I said all this talk could scare anyone (including me) but there are always two sides to every story. I actually think the KQ is fine, especially an '06 with a new air filter.

Well I think I am going w/ the Outlander. The KQ filter issues and blue smoke are an issue for me. The rincon does not seem to have enough power from the people I have talked to who own one. Plus I love the looks of the Outlander XT and It has IRS plus visco lok which are 2 great features for me anyway. I have not found another quad w/ visco lok yet. My fiance has a BF650 and he loves it. Although if I get this Outlander I am sure he will be upgrading soon. I'm sure he can't have his woman showing him up on the trails. LOL.
