Put a 13T countershaft sprocket on the R yesterday, and took my first ride this morning. Keep in mind that this was mostly a trail ride in my local hills, and not a full on open desert test ride.
I can definitely tell that I have lost a fair amount of 5th gear top end (did a blast down the paved street to test that). I ride desert with very fast dirt bikes and a bunch of fast quads, so I don't want to give up to much top end and end up in the back of the pack eating dust, but time will tell.
I definitely like the explosive low end power! The bike wheelies more easily, but it isn't so bad that one has to be terrified. I think if I use some throtle control and ride with my weight forward, I will easily adapt to the situation.
Doing an open desert ride this weekend, so I will let you know how it goes.

At first the 13 feels like just what you need, but you'l notice that its to low after a bit,The best combo is a 14/39 (1 up in the back) Its like the three bears,,ones to low, ones to high, and ones JUSTTTT right
enjoy the 13 for a little while, its fun when you first put it on

DesertBum- No, I just rode in the hills behind my house (Loma Linda/Riche Canyon). Still a pretty good place to ride, in spite of all the development.
The reason I can't go any larger on the back sprocket is because I don't have the room. I am running a DG Baja skid plate, and there just isn't any room for anything larger than a 38. I could shim the skid to make more room, but that would reduce my ground clearance, which is a sweet 6" if I want to run Holeshot XCT's. Not many sport bikes out there with 6" of clearance!
I know what you mean when you say the 13T may be to low! I went down a tooth on the front of the 400EX once, and thought it was great at first, but kept doing wheelies at the most inopertune times (like accelerating out of a turn). Went back to stock pretty quick.

I'll agree with Tractorpacker. I went to a 13t right away on mine and I was always looking for another gear.
TP let me use his 37t for a 13/37 combo and I really liked it. I have yet to get my own 37t and I have kept the 13t on front for trail riding.
