someone already thought of that. they're called twin row or tapered bearing carriers. You can't make the bearings and bigger in diameter than they already are or they wouldn't fit a stock axle.

Like i said, you would have to be an expert machinist, and own $100,000 equipment, to make a proper bearing carrier. It isn't something you could just whip up in your garage with a drill press and a Dremel.

If I were you I would just buy a Rad bearring carrier, I bought mine off ebay for about $120.
I had the same problem with my 400 when I had the stock bearring carrier in it. But ignored the problem and one time I was turning and the tires locked up, and when I took it apart the bearring carrier was chewed, but i havent had a problem with my new bearring carrier yet, and it also has a grease nipple on the side so you can keep her pumped full of grease!

You know what's funny about the twin row design with the sealed bearings? The bearings are totally sealed on both sides, so what good is the grease fitting? No grease can get into or out of the bearings. So to solve this problem, I removed the bearings out of my RAD carrier, and removed the inner seals, so that grease would be able to get to the ball bearings. Works great and have not had any problems at all. Just have to make sure you grease the carrier after every ride, until you see grease squirt out the other side of the carrier. That way, you make sure all the dirt and water is flushed out.
