Having owned a Banshee and a Raptor and ridden with and on several 450's I can say this - I would have a hard time owning another Banshee now that the 450's have shown how good they are. The Banshee is front end heavy and is not a good mx quad. Just watch a Banshee rider go through whoops - he's hanging off the back as far as possible in order to get weight on the rear wheels. Not a good riding position. The 450's are much better balanced and hook up WAY better on loose dirt. Banshees tend to spin a LOT. Stick paddles on them both an the Banshee will probably holeshot most of the time but get beat after the whoops end and the hills get steep. At best, a piped Banshee will make 45 - 47 hp, but the 450's weigh less and make a few more hp after the typical pipe/cam/jetting/airbox. Add more mods and $$$ and the Banshee motor will make WAY more hp. 70 hp isn't hard to get out of that little 2 stroke twin without even going above the stock 350cc's.
The worst thing about the Banshee motor is that it's like riding a 125 MX bike on steroids - it's all top end and little to no low rpm grunt. It makes getting up technical hills a challenging affair. A stroker kit is helpful but how much $$ do you want to spend to make that motor act like a 4 stroke?
For flat out hill racing - if that's all I was going to do - I'd buy another Banshee and mod the heck out of it. For actually riding in desert, sand, cinders and mountains, the 450 or Raptor is a much better choice. For MX, there's no comparison - 450 hands down. BTW - if you start to mod the Banshee heavily, the maintenance will increase too. I'm starting to believe that the whole maintenance issue on the 450's is getting a bit blown out of proportion. Stock cylinders and mild cams won't blow them up if the oil and filters are maintained properly. It's not a bad idea to run 50/50 race fuel either. FWIW, my next quad is going to be a 450.

well pritty much a banshee is going to win on streights and a 450r will win every were else. plus a 450r has good bottom end power. the banshee has to be reved to get power cuz it makes mostly top end power.
