PROBLEM WITH HONDA 400 FOREMAN
#2
erno:
The problem is likely the splines in the front propshaft are stripped out. Jack the front end off the ground and try to rotate the front tires. If they turn without the rear wheels turning you definately have a problem. Look to see what rotates and what doesn't - there is a connection that has failed.
Look at the left side of the engine down low and in front. there is a "cup" mounted on a shaft coming out of the engine. Inside that cup it is splined. Out of that cup there is a shaft running to the front diff. You probably need both shaft and cup. I did - been there, done that. Its a bitch but doable.
If this is it you might consider buying a warn 424 system. I believe it goes in to replace this shaft/cup?
