Went through a creek this past weekend and got stuck in water that went up to the seat. Pulled it out and after some time got it started. When I tried to leave, it wouldnt go anywhere. The display is flashing the "- -" code 5 times. Called dealer and they said that meant it was the ECM switch. Took off connectors blew the water out and re assembled. Still doing the same thing. After some time, i was able to get it going in automatic but once i switch it to ESP it will shift from 1st, to second... then starts flashing again. A few times I was able to go through all the manual gears, but it was go from 1st, to 3rd, to 4th to 5th. Then down shifting it would go from 5 to 1. Then try up shifting again, and wont go past 2nd. After deciding to not worry about ESP for the moment, I started concentrating on the automatic. Drove around for a bit thinking that it would help dry things out but to no avail. Now, the bike is stuck in a higher gear, 4th or 5th in automatic. So when i press the gas, it wont even go.
Anyone have any ideas on some more things I can do. I tried to unplug the battery to reset everything, but it doesent work either.
Im lost.

It is right on top of the transmission on my rubicon it is under the exhaust not sure so i would say it is same place on rancher but not for sure. It also has to be preloaded when installed all you have to do is put it on and twist a quarter of a turn to preload the sensor. And i dont know of any online service manuals.

Good News!! I picked up an Angle Sensor yesterday from the local shop, put it in and Bam!! it works perfect now. When I took the old one off there was indeed a breach of moisture in the sensor as water drained from it. It took me a few min to make sure I had the anlge right when installing it because as im sure you know, you have to install it and then twist it aruond to cause tension. I am keeping the old one as a memento of my bonehead activites on the trails.
Thanks for your help and re-assureance on this matter.
I notice your from Tenn Chic, I was born in Johnson City and lived there many years before moving to NC. U guys got any good trails in Memphis?
