Default Twist or Thumb Throttle

I have a 39 FCR Carb on my 400 and the cable just messed up. I have a thumb throttle and it is very stiff to use. I have heard of this problem with this carb.

I am going to buy a new cable, but I am wondering what is easier to use with this carb. Twist or Thumb?

I mostly ride recreation, fast trails, beaches, Tundra, and dirt roads.

Also where can I buy a throttle cable for this carb? I bought the carb from Sparks Racing, is there any where else I can get a cable?

I use a stock cable from an 04 yfz quad. It fits on the stock Honda thumb, and into the fcr39 carb.

Twist is very easy to use.

Default Twist or Thumb Throttle

Is the twist easier on the arm and thumb pump Vs. the thumb?

Definately, makes an incredible difference on long rides, races, and bikes with stiff carb springs.

There is no "thumb pump" using a twist.

I have used both a thumb throttle and twist throttle extensively. I have come to a point in the last five years where I will only ride with a twist throttle on my bikes. If you haven't used a twist much, it will probably feel wierd at first. If you decide to go that way just take if easy at first, you will get used to it.

I have been riding for years and don't care for the twist on Atv's. I have dirt bikes too with twist, but I feel like you have more acurate control with a thumb throttle. It's a bit safer too; I think that's why they engineered them with thumb throttles originally.
