I am looking into buying a quad, BUT I am a poor college student who needs to keep some of his money for school. I was mostly looking at 4X4 because there are some trails around here with lots of mud, but I am intrigued by the review of the Recon on this site. I want to know how well a Recon keeps up in the deep mud and streams crossings?

The stock tires are ok, but nothing special. We put Sur Traks on the rear & it makes a difference. The Sur Traks are only 2 ply so they are not to heavy. We have had no flats with them.

My wife's Recon with the Sur Traks can now keep up with my 4wd Rancher really well. The Sur Traks are reversable for use in the snow.

 

The stock tires impresed me, so some mud tires would realy move it along. My recon almost keeps up with my 4x4 on trails and mud, intill it gets deep.
