I want to get a new pipe for my recon. I'm looking at the supertrapp IDS2. Does anyone know how hard it is to change the discs on it and if it needs to be re-jetted after you change them? Also, is this pipe as quiet as a stock pipe or close to it. I will be getting the quiet core. Thanks alot. PS. this is a spark arrested pipe, isn't it?

I run the 4"disc Supertrapp & I believe the IDS 3"
version is the same system as far as the disc installation is concerned. There are just some long Allen head bolts to remove in order to add or replace discs, that's all. As for the decibel level, the level increases with the addition of discs and decreases with their removal down to a recommended minimum number. As shipped the system is not much louder than stock, although at a slightly lower pitch.I'm not sure I would choose the quiet core..it restricts the flow to some degree & that's what makes it quiet, but that, to me, cancels out the reason for buying a pipe in the first place. I guess you could order the quiet core later if you felt you needed it.
Jetting? Depends somewhat on the number of discs you run..the more discs, the more air flow & the leaner the air/gas mix. With the stock # of discs, you may not need to rejet the main but the only way to know for sure it to test & do a plug read. Only YOUR engine knows what it wants in fuel/air.
When you get your pipe and need some info on testing/plug reading for correct jetting, I have a fairly explicit file I can send you if you want to email me for it.
Well, you wanted some info..now you have a whole book
Oh, one thing more on discs..in removing or adding them don't overtighten the bolts holding them in. It can deform the discs, preventing them from exhausting the gases.

Also, remember to use never seize on those disc retaining bolts. You may wish to alter the number of discs in the future, this will help the removal process.
