91 Honda 4x4, any good?
#1
I've been thinking about buying a utility ATV for survey work in the mountain west and had decided on a new Rancher 350.
Today I heard about a 91, with a 300cc I think, for $1500. He says it's really clean.
Would it be as capable as a new Rancher 350, 5 speed?
Would I be able to find parts and keep it maintained?
Would it be reliable enough for field work 10 miles from the truck?
Any other advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

91 that kinda old, but the old 4trax 4x4 are bulletproof, i would try to negotiate with the guy, even though it is very clean, you may end up doing bearings and other major wear items before to long. General rule of thumb, almost any running atv will sell for atleast $500, 4x4 about $800. kelly blue book say if its in good condition, trade in value is $1320. Hope this helps

Thanks for the quick reply. I will be looking at it this morning. The seller claims it has very low miles. If it's as clean as he says I might take the risk and offer him the $1320 blue book price you mentioned.

I looked and I bought it. It looks like new, apparently always garaged and low miles.
Think I got a good deal but time will tell.
I thinks it is identical to the ATV's we used in mining exploration in the mid 90's. They were reliable and workhorses.
