Default no reverse

Hello to all, My son has 2003 Rancher with electric shift. It will not work in reverse. I checked the switch on the handlebars and everything seemed o.k. The switch will downshift the transmission. If anyone can tell me what I need to check, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Rick

Default no reverse

Make sure the reverse cable is adjusted properly, or the rear brake is not too tight to disengauge the reverse lever stopper in the tranny.
Check if it will go in reverse with the emergency manual shift lever. If it does go in manually, from experience I would condem the shift angle sensor on the front of the engine. Try dusconnecting the sensor and reconnecting it. Sometimes this will cure the problem. Some have luck shifting the transmission up and down with the manual (emergency) shift lever, but I am thinking the angle sensor is bad...
