Honda TRX250EX vs. Polaris 250 Trail Blazer
If you are goig to leave the thing stock, and/or if you want to learn a clutch, go with an '06 250EX. In stock form the trailblazer is pretty mild, however if you are looking to keep the quad for a while and need something to grow with you, then the Polaris may be a better option. Being a 2-stroke, it can be built upwards of 40HP if you are inclined to put the $$ into it. The 250EX would be lucky to hit half that mark. Don't get me wrong though, the 250EX is a great quad that will serve you well, take a beating, and come back begging for more. A true 'gas and go' beast if there ever was one.

i've rode 250 2 smoke polarises before, and they never had enough torque to break the tires loose like a manual shift quad does. If you do it right you can slide them through a corner, but the throttle response is terrible and it's hard to maintain the slide, so it's still not as fun to do as on a manual shift.
I don't really see the benefit of an automatic tranny on any sport quad, it's a waste of power, kills the 'fun factor', and it's not hard at all to learn how to ride a manual shift, especially an auto clutch like the 250ex.
What makes the trailblazer a better trail quad? I never rode a trailblazer specifically, but i've rode a couple polaris trail bosses and a scrammy 400, and they felt twice as heavy as a real sport quad. I think the 250ex is an excellent trail quad.

im not saying the 250ex isnt a good trail quad..but yes i agree on the throttle response of the trailblazer..its sucks..but go out a pipe, silencer and a clutch kit problem solved..but im only 13 and after riding my tb for a few years, it gets boring..alwasy riding with friends on bikes and me always being wideopen..one the tb sells..bye bye 250, hello 400's..oh and honestly..if you looking for reliability..dont go with the tb..its a piece oh SH**!!

I'm disappointed with polaris's quality in the past few years. One of my neighbors has an 86 trail boss 250 that's all original except for the drive belt and front sprocket, as far as everyone can tell. It's rickety because it was beat to death and rolled down hills end-over-end on more than one occasion, but it still runs, and really does hold it's own very well against 250 4 strokes, my honda recon could BARELY outrun it. And my uncle bought an 87 trail boss at auction for 500 bucks 4 years ago that runs like it's brand new. Heck, both of them still have the original goodyear tires!
