I have alread worn away some of the black on my rear rack. Some metal is now showing. Is there anything I can cover the rack with to protect it? I heard that pipe insulation works well. Any Ideas?

Greetings,

I was scratching my rear rack when tossing chains and such up there between pulls. I cut a piece of garden hose to the right length and split it lengthwise. It squeezed right over the pipes and stayed right where I put it through a lot of abuse. Given the right color, its not noticable.

I've heard of some guys spraying truck-bed liner on their racks. You might try a search on that in here, I believe it was discussed fairly recently.

Yep DrRod is right the split hose works well, just get a hose that matches the colour of your racks.

I put truck bed liner on by rims and it doesn't seem to scratch, it will probably work on your rack. I also put some on my skidplate and it hasn't come off.

Hey Boots, you can get Herculiner at Fleet Farm in a one quart size for $29.99 I think, kind of spendy. Otherwise you could probably take the racks off and have them Rhino Lined. The hose deal works well too, I bought some washing machine hose and split it and used it on my Grizzly to keep the grille from getting beat up with my winch cable and hook, just use zip ties to hold them on.
